Soulbound NFTs are a unique type of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) that cannot be transferred or traded, meaning once you own a Soulbound NFT, it remains with you forever. You can learn more about them here.
This guide will help you understand how to create Soulbound NFTs on the Singular platform.
Before creating a Soulbound NFT, you must first establish a Soulbound collection. A collection serves as a holder for your NFTs, grouping them together. In the case of Soulbound NFTs, these must be created within a Soulbound collection.
To create a Soulbound collection, follow the steps highlighted in our guide on How to Create an NFT Collection on Singular. However, keep in mind to check the 'Soulbound collection' box while filling in the metadata of your collection. This ensures that your collection is Soulbound, meaning all NFTs within this collection will also be Soulbound.
After you've created a Soulbound collection, you can proceed to mint a Soulbound NFT. Follow the steps in our guide on How to Create an NFT on Singular, but make sure to:
Select your Soulbound collection in the 'Select collection' step.
Choose the destination of your Soulbound NFT. You can either send the NFT to a user (by inputting the user address) or to another NFT (by searching for the NFT by name). Once you click any of the options, a pop up box will appear where you can input account address or find NFTs via search. You may send a Soulbound NFT to another NFT you own or to any other NFT by using the search box (for that you need to unmark the box that says "Show Owned NFTs only".
Click ‘Create’, sign your transactions and voila! You’ve now minted a Soulbound NFT with little to no stress.
It is important to note that while a Soulbound NFT must be created within a Soulbound collection, its final destination doesn't need to be Soulbound.
